Callaway uPro
-->
The Callaway uPro is a sleek looking golf GPS device with a high resolution transflective screen. Callaway boasts that there are no membership fees or annual dues to pay; however, you can only download Basic Mode courses for free. With these course maps the uPro displays only the distances to the front, center and back of the green, as well as distances to the front and back of each hazard. If you are satisfied with playing in Basic Mode, you might want to consider buying a much cheaper, more basic golf GPS device such as the Bushnell/iGolf Neo or the Izzo Swami. Otherwise, you will have to pay a fee for the more advanced and feature-rich Pro Mode courses (see below).
Main Features
- ProMode features are the real reasons for buying the Callaway uPro. It is in ProMode where the uPro attempts to distance itself from the other golf GPS units on the market: stunning color graphics, aerial photographs, and flyovers elevate the golf GPS to a new level of interactivity and visual experience. You can start each hole with a video style flyover just like the ones you see on network TV golf. During the flyover the 200, 150, and 100 yard markers are clearly shown on the screen. Being able to vividly see all of the targets and hazards in this way gives you a fantastic look at the course and increases your ability to plan your strategy.
- AnyPoint technology allows you to choose any point on the hole simply by maneuvering a yellow star across the screen to any spot in the fairway. The distances to the yellow star and from the yellow star to the green are continuously displayed. This is particularly advantageous for layups where there is no obvious target or pre-programmed point mapped. With AnyPoint you are in complete control of course management.
- SmartView gives you an aerial view of the course from your vantage point. All key distances are superimposed on the screen and are constantly updated as you proceed along the hole, so you can always plan for your next shot. You will always be able to view these key distances: to the front and back of bunkers;to the front, center, and back of greens; and to other important targets. You can also zoom in on the green as you approach to get “a bird’s eye view” of the hole.
