iGolf Mobile Available for the iPhone

Smartphone golf GPS apps are getting better and becoming more popular; the makers of standalone units are taking notice and adjusting their products to compete in a more demanding marketplace. iGolf, one the pioneers of golf GPS devices (makers of the popular iGolf Neo) and host to the biggest database of mapped golf courses, has, like GolfLogix before it, taken its standalone technology and expertise and packaged it as an iPhone app.

You can download the iGolf Mobile application for free from the iPhone App Store and use it free for 24 hours; however, after the free trial, you will have to pay $5 a month or $50 a year as a membership fee. (You can purchase a $50 gift card online at the iGolf website.)

Some of the key features include:

• Interactive aerial hole overview maps with multi-level zoom for detailed shot planning
• Distance to any point on the hole and from there to the green
• Quick view front, center and back of the green measurements
• Pre-mapped distances to hazards and additional custom points
• Shot distance measurement

Unlike other smartphone apps that rely on users to map courses, iGolf has a dedicated mapping team to produce and maintain high quality maps (there are currently over 20,000 professionally mapped courses available).
